Lehigh University's process and philosophy about Reappointment, Tenure and Promotion are documented in R&P and explained by the Faculty Affairs resources of the Provost Office. To compliment these, Lehigh University offers a suite of events to support faculty approaching the various evaluation milestones and for evaluators themselves.

Programs for faculty review candidates:

  • Panel of Internal Evaluators: Each Fall, the Provost gathers a panel of internal evaluators to demystify process and expectations for tenure (even years) and promotion to full (odd years).  The guests will share insights from their on tenure and/or promotion committees and/or as associate deans to help answer questions about "what counts."  Attendees can be from any faculty rank, though the discussion will be geared towards colleagues approaching the review under discussion.
  • Panel of Recently Tenured- (Spring, odd years), Real world insights and advice suitable for assistant professors in the year or two before application for tenure. Learn from colleagues' own planning efforts, thoughts on assembling a strong dossier, and about what has changed.
  • Panel of Recently Promoted-  (Spring, even years), Real world insights suitable for associate professors planning to apply for full professor in the next year or two. Learn from colleagues' own planning efforts, thoughts on assembling a strong dossier, and about what has changed.
  • Got Tenure, Now What? (Fall), This session supports newly tenured faculty as they recognize their varied experiences and goals for their career lives ahead.
  • Triennial Promotion Plan- in addition to the web-based resources, this discussion (usually in September) supports the preparation and interpretation of the Promotion Plan.
