The Deputy Provost for Faculty Affairs and the Deputy Provost for Graduate Education invite you to apply for a four-session spring workshop series to further develop your mentoring expertise. This workshop series is particularly useful to pre-tenure faculty and to those who are applying for extramural research training grants.

The deadline is February 3, 2023.

 

Using the curriculum created by CIMER: the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research, participants will actively engage in discussions of topics including the following, which have been identified by research mentors:

  • Establishing Expectations

  • Maintaining Effective Communication

  • Assessing Understanding & Fostering Independence

  • Promoting Professional Development

  • Addressing Diversity & Ethics

 

Each in-person session will be facilitated by Drs. Hutnik and Levine and fosters networking and skill building with a light breakfast and working lunch in XXXX location TBD. The general schedule of each session and the specific dates are outlined below.

 

9:00-9:30 LIght breakfast and networking 

9:30-11:30 CIMER Interactive Workshop Content

11:30-12:00 Working Lunch

12:00-12:30. Finish Lunch and Networking

Participants (at least 12) must commit to all four sessions; space is limited to 25 people. The Spring 2023 application form will ask for your name, basic contact information, and a brief paragraph about what you hope to gain from attending this series.  

*If you will need Kosher for Passover meals for the session on April 7, please indicate this so we can accommodate you.

Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate and be invited to a celebration.

 

Please complete the application by February 3rd so we may notify you by February 10th.
