The American Council on Education published the 2024 Report which examines over 200 indicators to determine who accesses a variety of educational environments and experiences, to explore how student trajectories and outcomes differ by race and ethnicity, and to provide an overview of the racial and ethnic backgrounds of faculty, staff, and college presidents. The findings faculty demographics across instiuttion types in different ways. Figure 8.1 shows the proportion of full-time faculty across race and ethnicity.
Another important chapter of the report, Chapter 5, reviews the landscape for graduate degrees. They report evidence that the share of doctoral degrees awarded to Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino scholars have increased from 2001 to 2021. Additionally, tables in Chapter 5, including show the disciplinary categories of PhDs earned by race and ethnic groups (5.11 is Doctoral Degrees in STEM fields; Table 5.12 reviews education subfields, Table 5.13 covers some health and medicine fields, Table 5.14 reviews some fields of the humanities.
