On October 24, ADVANCE launched a brief survey to all faculty members. The purpose is to gain the input of faculty to guide programming and resource priorities as we collaborate with the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity and other Lehigh community members that provide important support to faculty related to gender and other social identities. Your response is greatly appreciated, no matter the amount of contact you may have or have had with ADVANCE. The whole survey takes 10-12 minutes (partial responses are also welcome) and the survey will be open until November 21, 2018.
This survey is the final stage of a three part strategic planning & self- assessment effort being conducted by Lehigh ADVANCE in conjunction with the Kardia Group, experts on leadership and change in academia.
Background: After the completion of the NSF grant (2010-2016), ADVANCE at Lehigh transitioned to an institutionally funded Center. Dr. Kristen Jellison served as Faculty Director for the final two years of the NSF grant, and has continued to serve in this role, while Dr. Marci Levine Co-Directs as a staff member of the Provost Office, reporting to Dr. Robert Flowers, Deputy Provost for Faculty Affairs. To inform strategic planning for the Center, ADVANCE leadership is seeking in-depth evaluation and feedback from you, our community of faculty. Goals of this process include: reviewing what ADVANCE has accomplished; understanding how well current programs serve Lehigh’s needs; planning for future ADVANCE leadership; and identifying emerging needs, priorities, and collaborations.
The first step of the process took place in the summer, via a series of strategic institutional inquiry phone interviews with key institutional stakeholders as relates to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Step two involved a two-day campus visit and focus groups on September 27-28, 2018.
Step 3, the survey, will help us better understand your beliefs and attitudes about the mission, role, and potential of Lehigh ADVANCE as an institutionally funded resource in the context of our institution's broader commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
