Lehigh BIOS Wins a GAANN to Broaden Participation

The BIOS Department graduate program was awarded a GAANN award (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need) from the Department of Education. GAANN exists for the purpose of increasing the population of underrepresented groups of strong academic standing in professional fields. Our award will support at least 6 students during the 3-year period of the grant. More information about the program is available at: http://www2.ed.gov/programs/gaann/index.html.

Research suggests women may be drawn more to collaborative and interdisciplinary research. Lehigh ADVANCE will shed light on to what extent and how interdisciplinary work is gendered, not only in terms of participation but in terms of outcomes.
