The Office of Research and the Office of the Provost are offering funding to support members of the faculty in moving into the next phases of their research. Attempting to compensate for lost productivity is well beyond the scope of this, or any other, grant program. Our focus here is on looking forward from where we are, aided, we hope, by renewed perspectives and substantial license to pursue new directions. Whether the experience of the past 15 months gives rise to new insights regarding the purpose and direction of your research, or solidifies your commitment to existing directions, we are hopeful that these small grants can make a substantial difference.
Proposals for Reemergence Grant funding of up to $3000 will be accepted on a rolling basis until August 2nd. Awards will be made available quickly after submission.
Proposals of one page should include a discussion of how funds will be used to support the faculty member in return to fully productive pursuit of their research. Costs associated with completion of projects that are underway, or with determining and taking new directions, will be supported. Examples include
- Costs associated with completion of current projects, where a modest amount of assistance would make a big difference.
- Honoraria for outside readers or mentors.
- Professional development related to research leadership or program planning.
- Editing and indexing.
- Hosting meetings, seminars, or workshops.
- Travel to meet a collaborator, program officer or mentor.
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Potential for funding to substantially benefit the applicant’s research trajectory
- Evidence of need
