ADVANCE Co-Director Attends iWIN

Sibel Pamukcu, co-Director and Co-PI of Lehigh ADVANCE attended the iWIN conference in Chicago last month. While participating as a speaker, Dr. Pamukcu was able to describe the ADVANCE grant and learn about other efforts to increase participation of women in STEM which she brought back to the Leadership Team.

It Depends on the Lens: Faculty Recruitment Workshop

The Faculty Recruitment Workshop led by Cornell Interactive Theatre Ensemble on September 28, 2012 was attended by about 40 faculty plus staff and administrators. Lehigh BIOS Wins a GAANN to Broaden Participation

The BIOS Department graduate program was awarded a GAANN award (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need) from the Department of Education. GAANN exists for the purpose of increasing the population of underrepresented groups of strong academic standing in professional fields. The National Science Foundation has updated the data on Women, Minorities, and Persons with Disabilities in Science and Engineering (July 2012). This report provides statistical information about the participation of women, minorities, and persons with disabilities in science and engineering education and employment. Undergraduate STEM Research: Women well represented and win

On April 26, thirty-nine research projects were presented by undergraduate students at the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium, supported by a Core Competencies Grant from the provost’s office and sponsored by Alpha Chi Sigma, the chemistry fraternity.
